Retin-A Gel is a prescription medication for treating acne. It may also promote faster skin healing after acne and blackheads clear, and It works partly by keeping skin pores clear.

Use Retin-A gel as prescribed by your doctor. Read all information given to you. Follow all instructions closely.

• Use Retin-A gel on your skin only. Keep out of your mouth, nose, and eyes. If you get Retin-A gel in these areas, rinse well with water.
• Please put it on at bedtime.
• Wash your hands before and after use.
• Wash affected skin and pat dry.
• You may need to wait 20 to 30 minutes before use.
• Put a thin layer on the affected skin and rub it gently.
• This medicine may catch on fire. Please do not use it near an open flame or while smoking.

Before using Retin-A gel,

• Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to tretinoin, fish, other medications, or any ingredients.
• Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking or plan to take.
• Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had eczema, actinic keratoses (scaly spots or patches on the top layer of the skin), skin cancer, or other skin conditions.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while using  Retin-A gel, call your doctor.
• Plan to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight or ultraviolet light and to wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Retin-A gel may make your skin sensitive to sunlight or ultraviolet light.

Retin-A Gel may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

• warmth or slight stinging of the skin
• lightening or darkening of the skin
• red, scaling skin
• increase in acne sores
• swelling, blistering, or crusting of the skin
• dryness, pain, burning, stinging, peeling, redness, or flaky skin in the treatment area

Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

• itching
• hives
• pain or discomfort in the treatment area

Retin-A Gel may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while using this medication.

How should you store Retin-A Gel?

• Store at room temperature. Do not freeze.
• Protect from heat or open flame.
• Keep all drugs in a safe place. Keep all drugs out of the reach of children and pets.

How should you discard Retin-A Gel?

Throw away unused or expired Retin-A Gel. Check with your pharmacist if you have questions about the best way to throw out drugs.

What should you do if you miss a dose of Retin-A Gel?

Skip the missed Retin-A Gel dose and go back to your normal time. Avoid putting on two doses at the same time or extra doses.

What side effects can Retin-A Gel cause?

Burning, stinging, peeling, redness or unusual skin dryness may occur.
