Patanol Eye Drops (antihistamines) treat itching and redness in the eyes due to allergies. This medication is not recommended for eye irritation due to wearing contact lenses.

To apply Patanol Eye Drops, follow your doctor's orders or the directions on the label. 

• First, wash your hands.
• Tilt your head back and, pressing your finger gently on the skin just beneath the lower eyelid, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to make a space. Drop Patanol Eye Drops into this space. Let go of the eyelid and gently close the eye. Do not blink. Keep the eye closed for 1 or 2 minutes to allow the medicine to cover the eye.
• To keep the medicine germ-free, do not touch the applicator tip on any surface (including the eye). Also, keep the container tightly closed.
• Do not use them if the liquid changes color or becomes cloudy.

Before taking Patanol Eye Drops, 

• Ask a doctor or pharmacist if Patanol is safe to use if you have any eye infection.
• Tell your doctor that you are allergic to olopatadine.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Patanol eye drops are not approved for use by anyone younger than two.

Patanol Eye Drops may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

• blurred vision
• eye burning, redness, or stinging
• dry eyes
• taste changes
• abnormal sensation in the eye

Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms, stop using olopatadine and call your doctor immediately:

• eye pain
• vision changes
• eye itching that worsens or continues for more than three days after you begin treatment

Patanol Eye Drops may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while using this medication.

How quickly do Patanol Eye Drops work?

After your first dose of Patanol Eye Drops in about 30 minutes, you can expect improvement in allergy-related eye itching and redness.

Are Patanol Eye Drops good for dry eyes?

Patanol Eye Drops might help with dry eyes if allergies cause the problem.

Can you wear contacts while on Patanol Eye Drops?

Avoid wearing contact lenses while your eyes are red or irritated. This medicine will not treat eye irritation caused by wearing contacts.
