Isopto Carpine Eye Drops are used alone or with other medications to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Lowering high pressure inside the eye helps to prevent blindness, vision loss, and nerve damage. Isopto Carpine Eye Drops may also be used during certain eye surgeries and to reverse the effects of drugs used to enlarge the pupil. Pilocarpine works by causing the eye pupil to shrink and decreasing the fluid within the eye.

Isopto Carpine Eye Drops Use only as directed by your doctor. To use the eye drops:

• Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using this medicine.
• Tilt your head back and, pressing your finger gently on the skin just beneath the lower eyelid, pull the eyelid away from the eye to make a space. Drop the medicine into this space.
• Let go of the eyelid and gently close the eye. Do not blink. Keep the eye closed for 1 or 2 minutes to allow the medicine to be absorbed by the eye.
• Do not touch the applicator tip on any surface to keep the medicine germ-free.

Isopto Carpine Eye Drops may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Before using Isopto Carpine Eye Drops, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: other eye problems. And also, update if you are allergic to it, preservatives or any other allergies. 

After you apply Isopto Carpine Eye Drops, your vision may become temporarily blurred or unstable. Vision in dim light may be affected. Do not drive (especially at night), use machinery, or do any activity that requires clear vision until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Limit alcoholic beverages.

Isopto Carpine eye drops may cause temporary side effects, such as:

• temporary irritation
• burning
• stinging of the eye
• temporary blurred vision,
• poor vision in dim light,
• headache, or
• brow ache may occur. 

Tell your doctor immediately if you have any serious side effects, including eye pain and vision changes.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help immediately if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including

• rash,
• itching
• swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat),
• severe dizziness, or
• trouble breathing.
