What is Diprosone Ointment?

Diprosone ointment is used to help relieve redness, itching, swelling, or other discomforts caused by certain skin conditions. This medicine is a corticosteroid.

This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription.

Use Diprosone ointment only as directed by your doctor. This medicine is for use on the skin only. Please do not use it on skin areas that have cuts, scrapes, or burns. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away with water.

This medicine should come with a patient information leaflet. Read and follow these instructions carefully. Ask your doctor if you have any questions.

To help clear up your skin problem, you must keep using this medicine for full-time treatment, even if your symptoms worsen after a few days. Do not miss any doses.

To use Diprosone ointment:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water before and after using this medicine.
  • Apply a thin layer of this medicine to the affected skin area. Rub it in gently.
  • Do not bandage or otherwise wrap the skin being treated unless directed to do so by your doctor.
  • If your doctor ordered an occlusive dressing or airtight covering to be applied over the medicine, make sure you know how to apply it. Occlusive dressings increase the amount of medicine absorbed through your skin, so use them only as directed. If you have any questions about this, check with your doctor.

Before Taking Diprosone Ointment

Before taking Diprosone ointment, consider the following:

  • Prolonged treatment with corticosteroids is associated with Kaposi sarcoma.
  • Diprosone ointment may interfere with the growth and development of children.
  • Discontinue if contact dermatitis occurs; not for use in patients with decreased skin circulation
  • Manifestations of Cushing syndrome, hyperglycemia, or glycosuria occur, especially if occlusive dressings are used.
  • May increase the risk of posterior subcapsular cataracts and glaucoma; cataracts and glaucoma reported postmarketing with Diprosone ointment.
  • Use may increase the risk of posterior subcapsular cataracts and glaucoma; avoid contact with eyes; advise patients to report any visual symptoms and consider referral to an ophthalmologist for evaluation.
  • Diprolene is not approved for use by anyone younger than 13 years old.

I've been a Canadian Med Center customer for about 6 years now. In all that time there was never once that I considered taking my business elsewhere. They do a great job and the people they contract with are also super.

Always appreciate their prompt service but especially appreciate their hanging in there when there was difficulty getting my doctor to renew my prescription!
